Like Ancient Redwoods

Like ancient redwoods of yesterday
Old and standing still against all time.
They draw in the warmth of a sun’s ray
As they slip into the age of prime.
They weather against all odds
As they stand waiting for their time to come.
Tall and wise beyond their years they are like Gods
Waiting among the high heavens to come.
Faces on the bark are like wrinkles
That seems to tell many stories.
They will sit and tell them with eyes that twinkles
That now there will be no worries.
For flying over the forest wide
The ancient redwoods take their rest.
They have stood the time with pride
As they look over the heavens in the west.
