Tail Chase

I hear it swooshing behind me.
I can barely see it waving from side to side.
I turn my head to find it
But it has moved aside.
Turn in circles I try to find it as I whip quickly around.
Around and around I try to catch it.
It is nearly in my mouth.
I will catch you, I know I can
But I can’t seem to hold onto you.
I snap at you, you tail.
I need to talk to you.
Finally, in circles you are in my grasp,
I grab you in mouth at last.
