Stubborn

You look at me and sulk
Four paws planted to the ground
Will not budge from spot
To continue our walk.
Your defiance in your eyes
You sit down;
Then lay down on the road.
Try as I do with leash;
I yank,
I pull;
But you do not move.
I walk over to lift you
On all four paws;
With a gentle pull we finally move.

Hides Beneath

What hides beneath needing to be free?
Longing to break the chains
That bound within the soul so deep.
To shed the skin that has tighten it hold
Though many, many years.
Now trying to break free;
To awaken the true soul
That has lies dormant;
Now awaken with new life and purpose.
