The Christmas Pine Tree

Prickly against my thumbs
Fresh scent starts to roam the room
Needles fall to ground
As one huge tree
Gets pushed through door
To empty rusted stand
Waiting in front of window
For the main attraction
To come take its space
Until roots dry up;
Lose their smell;
And needles begin
Making tree bare
For end of holiday season.
