Dog Celebrity

I am dog celebrity.
I’m not famous.
Oh no, I am not.
But people stop
To admire me
Any where I go.
Just today
I was in TJ Maxx
People came up to me.
Told my human how cute I was
Asked questions about me;
Petted me;
Told me how fluffy and sweet I was.
I got a picture taken with a boy.
I feel like some Hollywood star.
But I’m just an every day dog
With an interesting story to tell.

Daffodils Were Silently Mourning

Last year daffodils were silently mourning
Mourning a lost of a furry friend
They had drooped their heads
Held themselves a silent prayer
For one furry dog
Who loved to sniff them;
Who loved to sit in them;
Who loved getting photos taken with them
They bowed their heads
When I took a picture last year
Just of them empty of that furry space
This year they will notice
A new dog will come around
Hopefully she will sniff them;
Sit among them;
And get photos taken with them
For they are happy life flowers

Dog Will Not Let Me Write

Dog will not let me write
She comes over with ball
Must wait for her to sleep at night

Dog sees me in my sight
came over from the hall
Dog will not let me write

I play with her for her delight
In my mind my poem I scrawl
Must wait for her to sleep at night

Continue to play until the end of light
Full of energy she is small
Dog will not let me write

All I have to do is sit tight
She begins to get tired; drops ball
Must wait for her to sleep at night

I will have to write by flashlight
For it is now night fall
Dog will not let me write
Must wait for her to sleep at night
