Chocolātl [Revision]

You stand before me your sweetness in your face.
I cannot stand waiting anymore;
Waiting to buy just an ounce of what awaits in your wrapper.
Your dark layers hide what I know is inside
Hoping this time we can savor the moment
Before you disappear again in my mouthwatering mouth.
You make my love for you ever stronger than ever
As I grab you now,
Slowly peeling away your wrapper covering
To look what tender sweetness awaits for my mouth.
Your milky, creamy taste is left upon my lips
Taste bitter and sweet to my mouth.
I continue my love to your ever disappearing being.
You are gone now, nothing left but the wrapper;
But your lingering taste upon my mouth
Leaves me with trying to find another one just like you again.

Chocolate Taster’s Spouse

I come home to see box of chocolate samples
stack neatly on our table.
Tempting it is to dive in and eat the sweets
you gentle push me aside as they are for testing.
I long to do what you love in tasting
the sweet, creamy, sugary small nuggets– melt in your mouth.
With pad and pencil you jot the sample number
the only identification for the unknown piece.
Opening the secret box you take the mouthing watering chocolate
and take a small bit.
You chew and chew allowing the saliva to wash over
allowing your taste buds to be expose to texture, flavors, aromatics and smell.
Minute goes by and another, I watch your face screw up in concentration.
What are you thinking? — Is it good? — Is it bad?
You then take the napkin and spit out the piece.
Grabbing the pencil you jot the results — saying, “I must spit it out because when you are tasting candy all day its best to keep it in moderation.”
I watch your writing hand as you describe what you experienced with that one piece.
Seeing you scribbling, scribbling away I think I could do it too
But for the fact my taste buds aren’t quite as good as yours.

Waiting to buy just an ounce of what awaits in your wrapper.

Coming In From The Freezing Cold

Coming in from the freezing cold
Hands, toes, face are feeling cold.
Into a warm house I go
To the kitchen I know what to do.

Open the wooden cabinet wide
To grab a tall mug inside.
Next to the pantry I rummage
To find my favorite drink I make in winter.

One pouch of hot chocolate mix will do
For it is my favorite drink by far.
Fill up the mug with water
Then to the microwave it goes.

A few seconds to make the water hot.
Then tear the pouch and grab a spoon.
Dump the contents in the drink
Then stir to dissolve the mix.

Steam rises from the mug
Cold hands touch the sides.
Now bringing it to my lips
Feeling the warm drink finally going inside.

Hot chocolate tastes too good
I savor every last drop to the end.
Hands, toes, face feel warm again
Only from drinking the hot chocolate again.

Chocolate Bar

Silky, smoothly and richly made.
Its taste is milky sweet.
Who craves one piece,
Cannot resist taking another in its place.
Bar shaped, square shaped or elaborate design,
Too much for anyone to decide.
Dipped in fruit or a salty peanut,
It can become quite a tasty treat.
Dark or light, what is the best?
Too much for anyone to take.
This tasty treat has a name,
It’s the chocolate candy bar by name.
