For Christmas I have two poem that will be published on Spillwords. For today’s poem it is “Choose A Christmas Tree”. Click here to view at Spillwords.com: http://spillwords.com/choose-a-christmas-tree/.
Christmas Eve evening snow has come
White Christmas has arrived
Snow falls gently on the ground
Now my Christmas is complete
Winter white on snowy night
To make for beautiful Christmas morn
Thank you for bringing home a fresh scented tree
placing it so carefully in the stand filled water.
Another watering bowl I may use to lap the water.
To bad the branches are not low enough
To mark my territory on; I guess I do it on the stand.
Thanks for the garland you draped so carefully around
the railings. It will be a great game to tug them off
when you go out shopping for your gifts.
Thank you for plush toys of Santas and snowmen
for their stuffing will come out in minutes; even though
I would prefer the squeaky kind the best.
Thanks for the ornaments for they will be broken
when I race around the tree at top speeds
hoping to knock the tree down and watch them fall.
Thank you for the Christmas decorations
for before Christmas begins; they will
litter your home as I reek havoc on them.
Was a green Christmas
Felt like Fall–
Not too cold anywhere
No bundling up against the cold
Was cloudy with a patches of blue
Wished there would be a snowflake or two
Strange weather through holiday season
Will snow ever come along
To make it feel like winter has finally come
We gather together tonight
For tonight is Christmas Eve
All the family traveled from far
To come with joy and giving
Around the room we visit
Since its hard to be all together
We enjoy the company celebrating
Eating and singing together
Then going to church as one giant family
To celebrate the coming of baby Jesus
Where is snow so fluffy and white?
None lie on frozen ground
No snow to build a snowman
No snow to throw snowballs
Where is the snow this time of year
Christmas is coming soon
No snow to blanket the landscape
For Santa and his reindeer to find
Hope there will be snow soon
To have a white Christmas would be nice
